The global economy continues to show signs of expansion and the US economy is currently showing little threat of a recession.  Because of this, our portfolios remain overweight equities – primarily overweight US large cap equities and diversified international equities. Here are our key takeaways from Stratos Private Wealth’s most recent Market Outlook Webinar:

  • Pros: With a solid global economic outlook, we believe strong earnings growth supports the bull market.  The potential for corporate tax reform also bodes well for equity prices going forward.
  • Cons:  A higher than average political partisan conflict could weigh on investments and economic growth.  The Trump fiscal stimulus, including tax reform and an infrastructure spending plan has been delayed.  This may act to drag on economic growth.

Our strategy for the remainder of 2017: Remain flexible.  We will continue to closely monitor our indicators to dictate the best course of action based on the weight of the evidence.
